My reference sheet for

All the stats are on the sheet except for a few secret details.

Background: Offspring of a human mother and a powerful fox demon father, Ryoku was shunned by both sides of his family. His half brother and sister, Shinto and Akira, full blooded demons desired him dead as a small child, and in a final effort to save the child, Ryoku's father hid Ryoku in the human world.

He was found, abandoned, by a fire master named Isshin who took him in and trained Ryoku in the ways of fire ki. Isshin already had an apprentice named Keiko, who was much more proficient in the art, Keiko runs off (blah blah that's a whole other story).

Some time passes and as a small child Ryoku, and Isshin are assigned to protect a very important little girl by the name of Shiki. Strangely enough, the girl appears to be Japanese but has blonde hair that is unusual for the ethinicity. Without her knowledge, Shiki embodies the strongest source of mana energy, and demons are drawn from the demon plane to her power.

On one fateful occasion, demons invade her adopted home, and kill everyone, except Shiki and Ryoku. Ryoku watches his sensei die from a fatal wound, but before fading away he clings to Ryoku and endows him with all of his fire ki. He uses the power to save Shiki, but because of the traumatizing event, Ryoku seals away Shiki's memories and places a 10 year block on her mana energies to conceal her from enemies. He then hides her to begin life anew.

The sensei's ki proves too much for the child Ryoku, as it slowly consumes his body into flames and he is forced to return to the demon plane to seek a cure. He finds bracers of binding which seal the fire back until taken off.

Years pass, and Ryoku, after training fiercely in the world of demons, returns to watch over Shiki. After 10 years, the seal on her breaks and Ryoku is forced to act as her guardian until Shiki can fufill her ultimate purpose...

So that's a quickie download of background for Ryoku, and I would give more, but it's detailed and I'm still working on the comic so... ^_^
